When Peter plays acoustic/electric gigs he uses wireless and looping technology. The wireless allows him to visit tables and play for people. The looper allows him to record the song instrumentally as he plays it, and then play it back allowing him to play solos along with it.
Since Peter has been playing solo guitar for 50 years it is a joy to watch and be part of, as his styles range from beautiful to bluesy to rock and rolly to folky. All done with passion and a great feel.
When Lloyd Tolbert joins Peter onstage, he brings a full array of harmonicas for every key. Lloyd was the 2010 first place Northwest Harmonica champion, so he also brings a lot of beautiful licks to the music. He also comes equipped with a wireless setup. Often Peter and Lloyd will venture out together as they play solos back and forth to a looped portion of a song, sometimes from opposite ends of the room. Lloyd can play bluesy or sink his chops into a great ballad.
The songs Peter chooses are always ones he has an affinity with. His interpretations are always his own. I have heard him say that if he cannot make a song his own, doing it in his own way, he won’t do it.
His singing relays a lot of deeper feelings, the same as his guitar playing. With well chosen songs and the abilities both Peter and Lloyd bring, it is always a memorable night when they play together.
Combining originals and favorites, it’s always a party when Peter and Lloyd come to play. With outstanding musicianship, humor, and a great rapport with the audience, they always set the bar high.
